Beating Babel in Multilingual Service Settings: ONCALL Interpreters attends the Conference in Paris

On the 5th-6th June 2015, ONCALL attended the Conference ’Beating Babel in Multilingual Settings’ at the Université Paris Diderot organised by the European Network for Public Service Interpreting and Translation (ENPSIT). The event was attended by industry researchers, service providers, national certification bodies and Ministers from many different countries including the UK, Ireland, Belgium, France, Norway, Spain and Australia. The event was an opportunity for various institutions to share their successes, challenges and developments in providing high quality and appropriate translation and interpreting services in a community setting with particular focus on training and accreditation for interpreters and creating standardisation throughout Europe and the rest of the world!

‘As a provider of community interpreting services in both the UK and Australia, the event has been an excellent opportunity for us at ONCALL to verify our own training and quality management procedures and make any required changes to align them with European and International standards. It is reassuring to see an increasing global trend in standardisation of training and accreditation techniques as well as greater awareness of the need for interpreting and translation services and so, no matter where you are in the world and regardless of your language needs, you will have access to high quality interpreting and translation services.’
